A Creek Chat

2022
public art

A Creek Chat is a temporary sound-based public art intervention, installed near accessing manholes to the underlying Williams Creek as vinyl stickers on the ground, where people will encounter them unexpectedly during their daily commute, inviting people to listen to what creeks have to say to us.

Based on the community’s stories on waterways, the project recorded experiences over a year of visits to waterways around Victoria, mixing into a ten-minute sound composition, as seamless conversations between different waters of different identities. A Creek Chat is not to critique the situation, but to acknowledge it and invite everyone to listen to what creeks have to say to us.
